The VETS UNITED Step-by-Step Guide was developed to support higher education institutions in integrating comprehensive and effective animal welfare training into the academic education of animal health professionals. Based on the WTS’s long-standing expertise in running animal welfare training programs, the guide outlines practical steps for embedding animal welfare sustainably on a long-term basis. The Guide provides templates, case studies and additional resources to assist institutions in this process. 

By following this guide, educational institutions can ensure that future animal health professionals and veterinary paraprofessionals are well-equipped to promote animal welfare – in their clinical work, in advising animal keepers, and in shaping policy and public to fulfil their important role as animal welfare advocates.
