Establishment of a Clinical Skills Lab to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills

The College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture at Addis Ababa University aims to strengthen animal welfare education by bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills development. Students often lack early-stage opportunities to practice essential clinical procedures in a simulated, low-risk environment, which can result in reduced confidence and potential stress to live animals. VETS UNITED collaborates with the College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture to establish a fully functional Clinical Skills Center (CSC) at the university equipped with simulation models. The project will directly address the critical need for a structured, low-risk learning environment where students can practice essential clinical and welfare-assessment skills on models and simulators.

To ensure sustainability, the Department of Clinical Studies will oversee the CSC’s operations and integration into the academic schedule.
